The Springfield-Greene County Health Department is seeking qualified applicants to join the Communicable Disease Division as a Community Health Nurse. In this role, the position will lead investigations into reportable diseases and conditions, provide education on disease prevention, and apply clinical expertise to reduce the spread of infectious diseases in the community. Will also stay informed on emerging pathogens, applying this knowledge to enhance disease surveillance and outbreak control efforts. As a key resource for local healthcare partners and community organizations, position will offer expert guidance on disease prevention and control strategies. This position requires an active Registered Nursing license, strong investigative abilities, excellent communication skills, and the capacity to work collaboratively across sectors to protect public health. Qualifications and Requirements Experience, Education, and Training - Community Health Nurse A Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) from a program accredited by the ACEN or the CCNE plus two years of professional nursing experience of which at least one year must be in population-focused community health nursing; OR Completion of either an accredited diploma nursing program; OR An associate degree in nursing (ADN) program supplemented by three years of professional nursing experience of which at least one year must be in population-focused community health nursing. Licensing/Certification Possess and maintain a current professional registered nurse license issued by the Missouri State Board of Nursing; Possess current CPR and AED certification as required for appropriate area of assignment; or obtain certifications within 30 days from start of employment date with city.
